Homeless Services & Foster Care

Streetwork Project: 1-212-695-2220, 1-212-577-7777 454 8th Ave 22nd Floor. Gay friendly services for runaway and homeless youth; including food, clothing, showers, medical care, needle exchange and HIV support. Ages 23 and under.
National Runaway Switchboard: 1-800-621-4000 24 hours. Provides crisis intervention and travel assistance to runaways. Gives referrals to shelters nationwide. Also relays messages to, or sets up conference calls with, parents at request.
Promesa: 1-718-542-5163 Transition living center, food, shelter, and counseling. Speaks Spanish. The Basic Center: 1-212-491-5911 465 West 145th Street, between Amsterdam & Convent Avenues. LGBT emergency beds, medical referrals/mental health referrals, case management, food and clothing. Ages 21 and under.
Health Care
Planned Parenthood: 1-212-965-7000 call Mon-Fri 8am- 8pm or Saturdays 8am-4pm to make an appointment at one of their health centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn or the Bronx. Birth control, pregnancy testing, GYN care, STD screening and HIV testing. For people of all ages.

1-212-423-2999 312 East 94th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. Confidential HIV/AIDS services, general medical care and counseling. Ages 10-21.
Ryan Community Health Center: 1-212-316-8368 or 1-212-396-7912 110 West 97th Street. Free and confidential clinic. Offers physicals, pregnancy tests and birth control, STD screening, HIV testing and treatment, TB testing, counseling, free condoms and referrals. Ages 13-24.

LGBT Youth Groups and Programs
The YES Center: 1-212-620-7310 Offers a free and confidential support services, leadership training, discussion groups, creative workshops, and social activities to GLBT youth between the ages of 13-21 in an alcohol and drug free environment.
New Neutral Zone: 1-646-679-1943 12 East 33rd Street and Madison, 10th Floor. Drop -in center for LGBT youth and straight allies ages 16-22.
ACQC: 1-718-896-2500 97-45 Queens Blvd. Suite 1220. Weekly support group for LGBT youth at Aids Center of Queens County. Ask for Jenna Gibbs.
Fierce: 1-646-336-6789 437 West 16th Street at 10th Avenue, lower level. Community organization and advocacy for LGBT youth of color.
The Door: 1-212-841-9090 55 Broome Street at 6th Avenue. Social service agency for all youth, offering a support group for LGBT youth as well as health care services, recreation, referrals and GED. You have to become a member first. Orientations are M/W/Th at 3:30pm.
