"Off the Clock
Vol. 1: New Music from Up & Coming Starbucks Artists"
Available on April 3, 2007
City at Peace-National was selected by Starbucks Entertainment
to be a recipient of a donation of $25,000.00 from the proceeds of the sale of "Off the Clock
Vol. 1: New Music from Up & Coming Starbucks Artists", a CD of 15 original tracks by
Starbucks partners (employees). The first-of-its-kind compilation is the result of
a company-wide contest that invited Starbucks partners to submit original solo or
band recordings. "Off the Clock Vol. 1: New Music from Up & Coming Starbucks Artists"
will be available exclusively at Starbucks Company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada beginning April 3, 2007.
"City at Peace is a nationally recognized non-profit that uses the performing arts to develop the next generation of engaged community leaders," said Ken Lombard, President of Starbucks Entertainment. "Starbucks is proud to support City at Peace, an organization that makes a real difference in the lives of young people."
Through its foundation, Starbucks has provided support for City at Peace programs locally in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC and Baton Rouge; Starbucks partners have also worked extensively as volunteers with these local City at Peace programs.
"We are honored to be chosen by Starbucks Entertainment to benefit from this innovative music project," says Paul Griffin, Founder & President of City at Peace-National. "Their support of City at Peace demonstrates their commitment to supporting young people and giving voice to their ideas. Starbucks clearly means to make a difference for the next generation."
"Off the Clock Vol. 1: New Music from Up & Coming Starbucks Artists"
is the first installment in an innovative Partner Music Contest series. Originally announced in the fall of 2006, the effort was widely embraced by Starbucks partners and within weeks the Entertainment team was flooded with submissions. More than 800 original recordings from solo artists and bands were submitted for consideration. Fifteen recordings were chosen and the result is an exceptional, must-hear album featuring songs that rank with some of the best new music today.
"Off the Clock Vol. 1: New Music from Up & Coming Starbucks Artists"
will be available exclusively at Starbucks Company-operated locations, online at
www.starbucks.com/hearmusic
and on the Starbucks Entertainment area on iTunes beginning April 3, 2007.
