City at Peace - Los Angeles Qualitive and Quantitative Results
In addition to an enormous feeling of satisfaction and pride from the performances and the work invested in their creation, the CAP-LA participants' accomplishments are excellent.
Pre and post-program evaluations tell us that participants who complete the program change the way they think about their lives and the possibilites that are available to them for the future. Every element of the program is designed to move us toward our goal of city at peace, and we have identifies the following outcomes:
• 88% of participants reported City at Peace made them want to learn about people of different cultures, and more than half wanted to learn more about how to chamge the communinty through civic action. The group identified 12 social issues of concern, with economic and racial discrimination topping the list.
• 72% reported improved ability to identify, communicate above and solve confilcts in their lives.
• All participants reported an improvement in their acting, dancing and/or sing skills.
• 94% reported that City at Peace has improved their leadership skills.
• 82% plan to (or did) graduate from high school and 94% plan to go to college after graduation.
• 98% of second and third year participants have 8th grade literacy or better - an approximately 18% target competency gain over entering cast members.
