Who is CPLA? - Participants
Our Commitment to Diversity
CPLA offers teens from all over Los Angeles County the opportunity to join City at Peace. It is our goal to include youth who represent a diverse range of cultures, socioeconomic staus, experiences, lifestyles and backgrounds.
They can come from two-parent families, one-parent families and no-parent institutions. They can come from public schools, private schools, arts schools, religious schools and the streets. They can come from homes of every size in the city. They can live in shelters, foster homes, town homes, apartments, single-family houses and mansions. They can be male and female. They can be straight A students, B students, C students, D students and dropouts. They can attend special education classes, magnet programs, vocational education classes and gifted and talented programs. They can be gay, lesbian, heterosexual, bisexual, transgender and transsexual youth. They can be sexually active and not. They can be beautiful, ugly and every look in between. They can come from poor, working class, middle class and upper class families. They can be physically, mentally, or emotionally handicapped and physically, mentally, or emotionally healthy. They can work full-time jobs, part-time jobs, or not at all. They can be African, African-American, Caucasian, Latino, Latino-American, Asian, Asian-American, Native American, Arab, Arab-American, Jewish, Muslim, bi-racial, multi-racial, multi-ethnic and more. They will be 13 to 19 years old.
The only thing they will have in common is that they will be teenagers, adolescents, young people, youth.
