Homeless Services and Foster Care:
National Runaway Switchboard: 1-800-621-4000 24 hours. Provides crisis intervention and travel assistance to runaways. Gives referrals to shelters nationwide. Also relays messages to, or sets up conference calls with, parents at request.
The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center: Services and transitional housing for homeless gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or questioning (GLBTQ) young people (15-23), that offers hot meals, showers, clothes, counseling, and much more. If you’re 18-24 years old and without a home, or in an unsafe living situation, the Center operates a safe, clean and caring 24-bed residence with dorm-style rooms. (323) 993-7501 or laglc.org.
